Talking about sex, well, there’s an app for that or there soon will be.
The Kinsey Institute along with the Department of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University in Bloomington have developed an app for mobile devices that will allow users to share, explore and look over anonymous data about sex.
Reports are submitted via smartphone and then explored on the Kinsey Reporter website. The development of the app took about a year to develop.
Anonymity is key to the app’s success.
Developers say they went to extreme lengths to make sure those that the identity of those who use the app is protected.
The Kinsey Institute believes the app will help us get a better understanding of our world and each other.
“I think it can be a really empowering thing to communicate about your own experience and then see how people around the world are experiencing things and feel part of something,” said Jennifer Ball with the Kinsey Institute.
The Kinsey Reporter app was up and running for a few days, but it has been temporarily suspended until IU’s legal department gives the app the OK.
