A judge has granted a change of venue request from the lawyers for Indianapolis Metropolitan police officer David Bisard.

Prosecutors told Fox59 that the new venue was undetermined, but confirmed that the trial will be moved. Bisard’s lawyers argued that their client couldn’t get a fair trial in Marion County due to the amount of media coverage and publicity the case has received.

The judge will choose from three main sites for the trial, although those locations were not made public.

Bisard was behind the wheel of his police cruiser when he hit a group of motorcyclists, killing Eric Wells and injuring two others. A blood draw showed that Bisard was drunk, but the evidence was thrown out on a technicality before an appeals court decided the evidenced was admissible. Bisard’s attorneys have petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn that decision.
