A Madison County man has been reunited with one of his horses who was shot last week.

Three-year-old Sunny is back home and recovering in Anderson.

Owner Bobby Stone said Sunny and his other horse, Lucy, were shot several times with a shotgun and handgun in their pasture last week. Lucy died from her injuries, but Sunny was rushed to Purdue University Animal Hospital for treatment and was saved.

Stone said he misses Lucy, but he’s happy to have Sunny back home again.

“He’s eating well. He’s really active. I think if he was able, he’d probably wanna go for a ride. My horses love to go and get out and ride,” said Stone.

Stone is not sure if he’ll ever be able to ride Sunny again. A bullet is still lodged in his back, but time will tell.

Stone is thankful for all the donations from the community to help pay for Sunny’s treatment.

Police are still investigating the shooting. No arrests have been made.
