A Wayne Township middle-schooler has been suspended after administrators found a handgun inside his locker.

Police were called to Chapel Hill 7th and 8th Grade Center on the city’s west side Thursday.

Adminstrators said they found the handgun while searching for a missing electronic device. They immediately contacted school security and isolated the student.

The school sent home a letter to parents. They’ve asked anyone who sees suspicious activity to call the anonymous Safe Schools Hotline at (317) 988-7722.

The student has been suspended pending expulsion. The investigation has now been turned over to IMPD.
