Vacant home ordered demolished following fire

A vacant home will be torn down following an overnight fire.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 2300 block of North Lasalle Street around 3:15 a.m. Thursday.

When they arrived the home was fully engulfed in fire.

It took firefighters about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control, but not before portions of the home collpased due to the fire damage.

Fire fire did an estimates $10,000 dollars damage to the vacant structure.

The Department of Code Enforcement was called to the scene and ordered the home be demolished immediately.

The cause is under investigation.
