Messy, dangerous roads as snow still falls
Snow totals are slowly coming in and through 7a on Friday morning Indianapolis has received 1.5” of snow. Most places across the state are reporting snow totals around 1 to 3 inches…
At this point we have two advisories we are monitoring and both of the advisories end at 10a on Friday. The first advisory is a winter weather advisory that has been extended down to Brown and Monroe counties. Second is a wind advisory with wind gusts hitting and topping 35 mph. The wind along with light to moderate snow through noon will mean treacherous driving conditions through at least the early afternoon hours today. Temperatures will not hit 32 degrees today.
Winter officially arrived today at 6:12a and winter weather has arrived just ahead of it. The next week will see plenty of cold to cool weather with only two days with forecast highs above 40°. While the weekend will be dry, we could see Monday night rain turn to snow flurries for Christmas morning. An area of low pressure is forecast, right now, to slide just south of Indiana on Wednesday to Thursday morning and could bring significant snow to the state
