Firefighters had a difficult time battling both flames and explosions at a Northern Indiana apartment complex.

The fire started early Monday morning at the complex in Huntington, just southwest of Fort Wayne.

When firefighters got on scene, the fire had already spread to other units. On top of that, there were explosions because of the fire. Firefighters aren’t sure if it was ammunition, fireworks or propane tanks from grills that exploded.

Crews were on scene for several hours fighting the fire.

A total of 11families were forced from their homes but fortunately, no one was injured.
