Enjoy the warmth of today as frigid temperatures are set to return overnight tonight.  The daytime high on Sunday will be in the upper 20s with temperatures slowly falling through the day.  Both Monday and Tuesday high temperature will be stuck in the teens.  Morning lows for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will likely be in single digits for most of Central Indiana.  The coldest weather will hit Tuesday morning with lows potentially falling below 0.  You’d have to go back to February 2011 for the last time that has happened.

It’s been a long time since we have seen temps near 0.

So what’s new in the forecast?  A late week short wave is now being forecast for Thursday and Friday.  While the EURO has us seeing only about an inch of snow the GFS has us seeing potentially 2 – 3 inches of snow with this system.  Model data now is also showing the entire week cold as the short wave will pull in colder air on its backside.  Friday and Saturday highs will likely only hit the mid-20s.  If we fail to hit 32 degrees next weekend it would be the first Saturday this month with temperatures below 32°.
