Dozens of masterpieces from one of the most famous artists of the 20th century will soon be on display in Indianapolis.
The Indianapolis Museum of Art announced Thursday that they will soon feature a collection by the French painter Henri Matisse.
They are receiving 79 works by Matisse as part of the museum’s 130th birthday celebration. The exhibit is called “Matisse, life in color.” Works from almost every period of Matisse’s life will be on display.
This is one of those artists who people will be smiling the first painting they see and after they see 79 great masterpieces, their minds will be blown,” said Charles Venable, Director and CEO of the IMA.
Matisse painted for almost six decades and influenced countless numbers of artists around the world.
The display at the IMA goes up in October.
