Bloomington’s mayor is planning to conduct a mass gay wedding at the end of this month.

Mayor Mark Kuzan will conduct the ceremony for more than a dozen couples in longstanding relationships. The ceremony will take place at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater Jan. 31 at 10 p.m.

The event is in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the PRIDE LGBTQ Film Festival, which opens that same night, organizers said. It is also in protest against a constitutional amendment that would ban same sex marriage. Gay marriage is not legal in Indiana.

Other officials will be present to show their support including several members of the Cit Council in Bloomington and the Monroe County Council.

About time an Indiana city stuck up for Same Sex Marriage equality!
And the best damn state the city has to offer at that! 😀

This is sad and sickening . If gays have rights to marry then throw the same rights and pologimsit and child pedophiles . Gay people are beautiful wonderful people don't mistake what I'm saying . But their sexuality lies far deeper than we know . It's genetics gone haywire or sexual abuseive past . NO ONE is BORN gay

i think u are very mistaken if it was genetic then dont u think my children would be gay or even my paretns for that matter….or how about my brothers and sister?

You're right. The latest science is out on the table (as of 12/2012) but was quietly left unreported by the media.

There is no "Gay gene" and it is NOT genetics.

What you are saying is sad and sickening. How can it be mistaken?

If it was genetics (and it is not) then people would be born gay as a result of genetics too. That is usually how genetics works.

I do not understand how you can be in favor of gay people but not be in favor of their happiness by allowing them to be in a legally recognized marriage. They're going to be together anyway. Marriage is a legally binding contract of the STATE and holds a very emotional and sentimental tie in today's society. Just let them be happy.

And pedophiles do not come into this equation because children cannot consent to marriage. Polygamy is a different story altogether.

Maybe you should keep this to yourself. Obviously you have no clue what your speaking of. Being gay is much different than being a pedophile. We don't prey on children…Let's leave that for the heterosexual priest. If you don't know the facts…shut your mouth. I'm not afraid to post using my real name either. Feel free to find me.

i dont have a problem with anyones sexuality. to each his own, i guess, but i do have a problem with gay marriage. especially since the only reason theyre fighting to make it legal is because there are socialist, communist, marxists and radical muslims tearing at the fabric of morals and going against our Christian beliefs at every opportunity

Noneya keep hiding behind the internet spewing hate…while people who never had to fight for their right to marry cheat lie and divorce every single moment of the day…idiot

    Ah, Sodom Indiana.
Don't confuse disdain for hate. Liberal smack talk is to label anyone or anything against their belief hate. Too funny and very sad.
Glad I no longer live in Bloomington. Not often does one get to see and experience a biblical named city these days but Sodom, Indiana, there you go.

FOX needs to update this story- it's inaccurate. Since marriage is only legal between a Man and Woman in Indiana, the ceremony he is performing is not a wedding. They can have a nice party, but at the end of the day you will just have 2 gay people living together.

Are you kidding me…..way to be an adult about it. Grow up! Clearly you are not well educated in the fact that anyone can get aids, not just because you love a same sex person. So maybe YOU should worry about YOURSELF and YOU getting aids and not other people.

      I'm something of a Conservative.

      I'm pro 2nd amendment

I'm pro "gay rights" as long as they don't seek my sanction of their lifestyle or try to tell me and mine that their behavior is "normal" or seek special priveledges based off their choices.

What happened to the separation of church and state? Anyone should have the right to be married. A big thumbs up for the mayor.

  • DISTRUBED

So wrong.. We need to bring God back into our schools and turn to him whats wrong with these people.God bad Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve sometimes i think people forget. I know you can't go to heaven for being gay. so therefore i dont support it, and i never will.

      Hey D I S T U R B E D…take religion out of the equation…then what can you blame your beliefs on? I know I know…nothing but plain ole prejudice.

    • megan

Marriage should be between two people who love each other, and commit themselves to each other for life. What does it matter to you who marries who? Do you lose sleep at night because two "gay" people want to marry? It's your mindset that continues the bullying in this world. Some men love men, some woman love woman. Get over it. Why make someone else's life miserable with your thoughts.

    • MissB123

Why…. so MAN and WOMAN can argue, cheat, lie, and steal from one another…..that's what YOU think marriage is about. Marriage is about LOVE not MAN and WOMAN.

To everyone who opposes gay marriage or believes that your bible gives you the moral authority to dictate the rights of others :

Your children's generation will look back at you like we look at those who told blacks and women that they don't have the same rights at white men. You are on the wrong side of history and time will erase your ignorance and hatred.

  • megan

Congrats to all those getting married! I'm happy to see this happening in Bloomington. Hopefully one day soon everyone will realize that gay people are living, breathing human beings, who have feelings and deserve to be treated with the same rights as everyone else.
