6:30 a.m. – Car stolen from 2600 block of Fox Harbour Dr.; witness says car was out front warming up when someone stole it. The car is a gold 2002 Chevrolet Malibu.
7:33 a.m. – Officers dispatched to 5800 block of Sapelo Dr. in response to a robbery report; woman says two teens took her purse and hit her in the head. The victim tells police she didn’t get a good look at the second suspect, who was standing behind the first suspect.
7:53 a.m. – Southport police called after man reported an attempted robbery in the 7400 block of Earl Ct. The man says two teens approached him in a gold car and one of them produced a gun. The vehicle’s description matches that of the Chevy Malibu stolen earlier on Fox Harbour Drive. The man, a jogger, says he didn’t have his wallet and confronted the teen who got out of the car. The suspect, who was carrying a gun, then backed away and the car drove off.
Approximately 8:00 a.m. – John Yingling, 38, shot and killed in his driveway in the 3300 block of Babette Ct. A neighbor reports seeing a “gold-colored vehicle” in the area after hearing a gunshot.
Approximately 8:00 a.m. – Blue Ford SUV stolen from 4000 block of Creek Way. Chevy Malibu ditched in the same area.
8:07 a.m. – Police called to 3300 block of Babette Ct. after a woman reports a phone conversation she had with her husband in which she heard someone threaten him. Police find the victim—John Yingling—shot in the head inside his pickup truck.
8:26 a.m. – Police officer locates the stolen gold Malibu in the 4000 block of Creek Way with identification of the woman whose purse was stolen on Sapelo Drive.
9:32 a.m. – Rex Souter shot while walking his dog near North Dandy Trail and West RutherGlen Way. Souter says a blue SUV—possibly a Ford—stopped and that a teen with a handgun pulled up next to him and fired several shots. Souter was hit on the left side of his body. He was treated and released at an area hospital.
10:00 a.m. – Man reports blue Ford Expedition stolen from 4000 block of Creek Way. He tells officers the truck was likely stolen around 8 a.m. while it was warming up outside.
11:17 a.m. – Officers spot blue Ford Expedition in the area of Washington/Lynhurst and attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle has been reported stolen and police believe it’s connected to an earlier shooting. The pursuit goes from Marion County into Hendricks County, where the SUV collides with several other vehicles at an intersection. Police identify 17-year-old Sirquain Burr and a 15-year-old juvenile. Both are taken into custody.
