Burglar drives pickup truck through local gas station in attempt to steal ATM

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating Wednesday after surveillance footage revealed a burglar drove a truck through a near north side gas station in an attempt to steal an automated teller machine (ATM) inside.

The incident occurred at the Marathon gas station at 30th Street and College Avenue around 3:30 a.m.

Witnesses reported seeing someone drive the pickup truck through the door of the gas station.

When officers arrived to the scene, they located a broken towing strap wrapped around the ATM.  Police located the damaged pickup truck nearby, but the suspect already fled the scene.

The store’s owner estimates damage to total approximately $20,000.
