INDIANAPOLIS – A semi-truck carrying a cherry picker hit a bridge on Interstate 65 Friday afternoon, resulting in lane closures.

The accident happened on northbound I-65 near mile marker 110.5. The Indiana Department of Transportation said the left two lanes could remain closed for up to four hours.

The semi was carrying cherry picker equipment that hit the Virginia Avenue bridge, which is now closed in both directions. The accident split the beam.

Crews are now at work assessing the damage. Bridge inspectors are en route to look at the bridge before reopening it to traffic.
