Woman finds siblings through viral Facebook post

A Sheridan woman who searched for her half-siblings for years found them within hours after her plea went viral on Facebook.

Dawn Price was adopted when she was five years old and only believed she had one brother. When she found her parents at the age of 20, she discovered she had multiple half-brothers and sisters.

“As soon as I found out about them, I mean, I’ve been on a mission,” she told Fox59.

Her dream to find her family led her on a nearly 20 year journey. She used every resource she could afford and came up with information, but no people.

In her last ditch effort, Thursday, she said she wrote her siblings’ names and birthdays on a poster board, took a picture of her holding it, and posted it on her Facebook profile. She also posted it on several different fan pages for news outlets, including Fox59.

“When I did that, it was just like, yeah this is gonna work, not!”

However, it did work. Within  24 hours, Price said her post had been shared hundreds of times. Her desperate plea somehow made it to Pennsylvania where a firm, “Know It All Intelligence Group”, took notice.

On Friday, the group contacted Price with some exciting news. They had found a brother in Ohio and a sister in Illinois.

“I immediately started crying,” she recalled.

Her sister contacted Price on Saturday and drove four hours to meet her in person.

Now, the siblings are inseparable, constantly talking on the phone, but Price’s search isn’t over yet. She said she still has two more siblings out there. While she doesn’t have much information on them, she said her new-found family gives her the strength and hope to keep looking.

“I haven’t given up hope and I’m not gonna,” she said.

The newly found siblings and Price’s other brothers and sisters are planning to celebrate Easter and each other at her Sheridan home.
