Winter mix leads to accidents on area highways

INDIANAPOLIS — A mix of rain, snow and sleet pushed through Central Indiana overnight Monday leading to many accidents on area highways.

Here is a list of accidents reported to the INDOT Traffic Management Center on state highways at 2:30 a.m. Monday:

  • Eastbound I-865 at mile 3.6 – Jackknifed semi has all lanes blocked at I-65. Motorists should use SB I-65 to 71st Street as a detour. 
  • NB I-69 at mile 202.8 / 96th St. – Single vehicle property damage crash north of 96th Street. Left lane blocked.
  • EB I-70 at mile 75.7 / Sam Jones Expy. – Single vehicle minor injury accident. Left lane blocked. — CLEAR
  • NB I-65 at mile 118.5 / Lafayette Rd. – Single Vehicle accident into median wall. — CLEAR

There are no weather advisories or warnings issued by the National Weather Service for Central Indiana, however slippery conditions could persist throughout the morning rush as temperatures remain around freezing.
