INDIANAPOLIS – Rampant speculation about a new weapon for Andrew Luck came straight from the owner’s mouth over the past few weeks.

Tweets from Jim Irsay indicated that a major wide receiver was being targeted by the Colts in the free agency period. Would it be Victor Cruz? Maybe even Larry Fitzgerald?

Major names like that have yet to come to sign on the dotted line but the team may be close to landing a receiver this off season after all.

On Monday the Colts confirmed on their website that former Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey is visiting the Colts on Monday and Tuesday. So far there has not been a deal between the sides after Heyward-Bey was released by the Raiders on March 13th.

A first round draft pick by the Raiders in 2009, Heyward-Bey is known for his speed and was the primary reason which Oakland took him seventh overall pick four years ago. Heyward got himself noticed at that year’s Scouting Combine when he ran a 4.3-second 40-yard-dash time-the fastest of any other player.

In four seasons in Oakland he has made 140 catches for 2,071 yards and 11 touchdowns. Heyward-Bey had career highs in catches (64) and yards (975) in 2011 with his highest total of touchdowns coming this past season (5).
