One person killed in Morgan County crash

MORGAN COUNTY, IND. — A Greenwood woman died following a two-car crash in Morgan County Sunday night.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of State Road 37 and Big Bend Road, near Waverly, Ind., around 7:30 p.m.

According to an Indiana State Police media release, a vehicle driven by Helen M. Sutton, 94 of Greenwood, was traveling east on Big Bend Road when she failed to yield to southbound traffic on State Road 37.

A vehicle driven by Caitlyn Hinshaw, 21 of Middletown, Ind., struck Sutton’s vehicle on the side, pushing her vehicle into the northbound lanes.

Sutton sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

Medics transported Hinshaw and her passenger to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment. Their condition is not known.

The accident blocked State Road 37 for about two hours.
