AUBURN HILLS, Mich – For one rare night, Pacers fans may actually have been pulling a big for the Detroit Pistons.

On Sunday night, their rival delivered.

Thanks to the Pistons’ 99-85 win over the Chicago Bulls at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Sunday night, the Indiana Pacers have clinched the 2012-2013 NBA Central Division Championship.

It’s the first time the Pacers have won the division since the 2003-2004 season and means the team will hang a banner in Bankers Life Fieldhouse for the first time in nine years. Traditionally the franchise will place a banner in the rafters following division, conference and league championships.

This came after the Pacers missed three chances this weekend to wrap up the division after the magic number to clinch went to one. Indiana lost at home on Friday night to the Thunder and Chicago beat the Magic. On Saturday the Pacers had another opportunity on the road against the Wizards but Washington dominated in a 104-85 win at the Verizon Center.
