Girl Scouts to send 77K boxes of cookies to Hoosier troops overseas

Local Girl Scouts are bringing a taste of home to Hoosier troops fighting overseas.

Central Indiana troop members delivered more than 77,000 packages of cookies to Camp Atterbury as a part of Operation: Cookie Drop. Boxes of thin mints, samoas and more are waiting to be shipped off from the distribution center there.

Soldiers from the National Guard, Army, Marines and Naval Reserves will soon get their hands on the sweet treats!

“When you’re so far from home, and all the things that are familiar and comforting, you stop and you really ponder, just looking at the box, wow, this is great,” said Brigadier General Brian Copes.

The Girls Scouts couldn’t have done it without lots of Hoosier help community members bought tens of thousands of boxes to make the event a success.

SO AWESOME!!!!!…love to see anything that makes the brave men and women fighting for each and every one of us feel more at home. You know they are going to be tearing up some cookies tonight!
