New round of storms coming, severe watch extended
NEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH 3AM
A stalled front north of the city will continue to linger several more hours providing a focus for thunderstorms. Along this front thundery downpours are likely but later tonight storms are expected to increase in coverage and intensity. North of the city large hail will be the main threat but transition to damaging winds later tonight. A new severe thunderstorm watch is in effect through 3AM
After 12AM a line of stronger storms is likely to reach the state line and work east during the early morning hours. This line of storms could reach the city around 2AM. Strong wind gusts are likely with this squall line. The storms are expected to continue east toward eastern Indiana through the pre -dawn hours.

7:40 PM: Radar shows thundery downpours lingering especially north along stalled front. Severe threat looks small for several hours then ramps up later tonight with possible strong line approaching from Illinois.
6:44 PM: The storm will continue to linger through the evening hours but has lost some of its punch. A second round of storms from the West will enter the state around 12 a.m. A line of storms with strong winds could reach the city around 2 a.m.
6:36 PM: Storm is moving over Hamilton County. Radar estimates hail at 1.5 inches. The storm is moving towards Madison County.
6:31 PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Hamilton and Madison Counties until 7 p.m.
6:01 PM: 2″ diameter hail reported in Muncie (Delaware County)
5:58 PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Delaware, Randolph [IN] till 6:30 PM EDT. It’s moving East at 45 mph and will pack 1″ diameter or larger hail. Towns: WINCHESTER…PRAIRIE CREEK RESERVOIR…SELMA…PARKER CITY…FARMLAND…LYNN…SARATOGA…UNION CITY AND SALEM. This cell has been long lived and has traveled over 120 miles since it started. This storm has produced up to 2″ diameter hail.
5:45 PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Boone, Hendricks, Montgomery [IN] till 6:15 PM. This storm is moving east at 50 mph and producing 1″ diameter hail. Towns impacted include: LEBANON…ZIONSVILLE…ULEN AND WHITESTOWN.
5:26 PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Hamilton, Howard, Tipton [IN] till 6:00 PM EDT. This storm could produce 1″ or larger hail. If you can, get your vehicle in the garage now.
5:26 PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Boone, Hendricks, Montgomery and Putnam County until 5: 45 PM. This storm is moving East at 45 mph and is packing 1″ or larger hail. Towns impacted include: ROACHDALE…LADOGA…NEW ROSS…JAMESTOWN AND ADVANCE.

5:01 PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Boone, Clinton [IN] till 5:30 PM EDT. It’s moving east at 35 mph and will impact THORNTOWN AND KIRKLIN.
4:55 PM: Ping pong ball sized hail just reported on the city’s north side on I-465 and Ditch Road. This cell is still moving NE. Carmel, Westfield, Noblesville, Fishers.. be ready!
4:50 PM: Dime sized hail in Zionsville
4:45 PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Boone, Hamilton, Hendricks, Marion [IN] till 5:15 PM EDT. This storm is moving northeast at 40 mph. Quarter sized hail is possible. Towns impacted include: ZIONSVILLE…CARMEL…LAWRENCE…FISHERS…CROWS NEST…NORTH CROWS NEST…MERIDIAN HILLS…BROAD RIPPLE…WILLIAMS CREEK… CASTLETON…WESTFIELD AND GEIST RESERVOIR.

4:10 PM: 2 NE Dayton [Tippecanoe Co, IN] broadcast media reports HAIL of quarter size (E1.00 INCH)
3:58 PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for SE Carroll, NW Clinton and east Central Tippecanoe County until 4:30 PM. The storm is moving NE at 35 mph and could produce quarter sized hail. Rossville and Flora are in the path of this storm.
