BLOOMINGTON – Police arrested a man Monday in connection with an April 7 assault on the B-line trail.

Scott J. Hedrick-Dwyer, 23, was arrested and booked into the Monroe County Jail. Charges against him include confinement (C felony) and battery (A misdemeanor).

Bloomington police detectives took him into custody in Owen County when he showed up by mistake at a court appearance that was scheduled for another date.

A 23-year-old woman said she was rollerblading on the trail on the afternoon of April 7 when a man tackled her and began beating her. The woman said he moved his hands toward her shorts before running off after a witness yelled at him and called 911. The attack happened around 1:30 p.m. near light post no. 146, police said.

Investigators released a sketch of the attacker and received tips about his possible identity. Callers said they recognized Hedrick-Dwyer from the description of his clothing. The victim also picked him out of a photo lineup, police said.
