INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—A man who ran into traffic on Interstate 465 Friday afternoon is recovering.
Troopers were dispatched to the area near 56th Street on the northeast side at approximately 12:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian being hit.
Preliminary investigation revealed the man was seen standing on the right lane emergency shoulder watching traffic before he suddenly jumped in front of a 2012 Nissan. After being struck, police said the man ran across all southbound lanes, crossed the concrete median wall and collapsed.
The driver of the Nissan was not injured.
The man was transported to Methodist Hospital for injuries to his leg, back and head. Police said the man’s identity is unknown at this time, because he did not have identification on him.
All I-465 southbound lanes were closed for approximately 45 minutes.
