INDIANAPOLIS — IUPUI and the Indiana State Fair Commission will announce Thursday that the school’s men’s basketball program will move its games to the State Fairgrounds Coliseum.

That announcement is scheduled for noon inside the Coliseum.

The Jaguars currently play their games at the IUPUI Gymnasium, affectionately known as The Jungle to fans, which seats more than 1,200 fans for an NCAA Division I game.

The State Fairgrounds Coliseum is currently undergoing a $63 million renovation which began in October, 2012.

When the renovation is finished, the seating in the newly renovated facility will increase from just under 8,000 to nearly 9,000, according to the Indiana State Fair Commission.

“The increased capacity alone is going to allow us to attract to a broader base,” Ed Holdaway, IUPUI Assistant Athletic Director for Communications said. “People are going to see that it’s a first class operation, beautiful facility. The facility itself has a rich history in basketball and beyond.”

IUPUI will also have the option of hosting select women’s games at the Coliseum.
