Eli Lilly’s CEO is recovering following major surgery.

John Lechleiter underwent surgery Monday to fix a dilated aorta in his heart.

The swelling could’ve caused a rupture and bleeding in the main artery that carries blood from the heart.

Lechleiter temporarily stepped down as CEO but should return later this Summer. Lilly’s CFO is filling in for now.
