LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif. (KTLA) — A black bear spotted in a La Canada neighborhood Monday forced lockdowns at two local schools.

Paradise Canyon Elementary School and St. Francis High School were locked down for nearly two hours while officials worked to corner the large animal.

The animal was spotted about 2 p.m. near Viro Road and Crown Avenue, said Lt. Brian Fitch of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.
