INDIANAPOLIS – Officials revealed that West 56th Street near Guion Road would reopen Wednesday morning following a fuel spill that closed the road for several days.

The street will reopen to traffic in both directions by 5 a.m. on Wednesday. Construction and cleanup work will continue in the area, and drivers are asked to be careful.

The diesel fuel leak was first noticed on Thursday. Marathon, which manages the pipeline, is working with state and local authorities to fix the problem and figure out what caused it. Since last week, approximately 21,400 gallons of fuel has been recovered. Marathon said there was no threat of soil or water contamination in the area.

The company said Monday that a section had been cut from the pipeline and sent for analysis.
