Sheriff’s deputy, others hurt after crash along U.S. 40

HANCOCK COUNTY – A Hancock County sheriff’s deputy among four people injured in a crash on U.S. 40 Friday.

The accident happened on U.S. 40 and County Road 400 E. around 3:30 p.m. on the east side of Greenfield.

Officials said the deputy pulled off on the side of the road to help a stranded pickup truck driver.

A westbound driver in a silver Acura crossed the median and hit the officer and the stranded pickup truck.

The driver of the Acura and a passenger were injured, as were the officer and stranded pickup truck driver.

All parties were taken to Methodist Hospital.
