Pregnant woman arrested on drunk driving charge

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—An expecting mother was arrested Monday night after police said she was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Sarah Ricketts, 31, was charged with driving while intoxicated with a prior DUI conviction, a Class D felony.

Police said a trooper stopped Ricketts’ PT Cruiser at approximately 9:45 p.m. for a speeding violation.  When the trooper approached the vehicle, he reported finding an open bottle of vodka. He also noted Ricketts had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

Ricketts, who is six months pregnant, had a BAC level of .19, said authorities.  She was transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail, where she remains without bond.
