SPEEDWAY – After one of the most competitive Indianapolis 500’s in history on Sunday, drivers got a chance to sit back and enjoy for a bit on Monday.
The annual race banquet took place in Pagoda Plaza with all of the drivers gathering one more time for the Month of May 2013 to honor all participants in the race along with winner Tony Kanaan.
A fan and driver favorite, Kanaan captured his first 500 mile race win after 12 tries on Sunday as he took the lead with three laps left and rolled around the track for the final two caution laps to seal the victory.
For his efforts Kanaan earned 2.3 million dollars, the sixth race-winner check to exceed two million dollars in Indy 500 history.
