Person critically injured in near north side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — Metro Police aggravated assault detectives investigated a shooting on the city’s near north side Wednesday.

Officers investigating a report of shots fired near West 35th Street and North Kenwood Avenue around 9:40 p.m. were dispatched to reports of a person shot one block away on North Illinois Street.

When they arrived, officers found a 61-year-old man suffering two gunshot wounds.

Medics transported him to Wishard Hospital in critical condition.
