Police: Body found inside submerged car in Wabash River

TIPPECANOE COUNTY – Emergency crews found a body inside a car submerged in the Wabash River.

The car was discovered in the river off of North River Road by the U.S. 52 overpass just north of West Lafayette. Crews had pulled the car out of the water by noon. Tippecanoe County Sheriff Tracy Brown confirmed that there was a body inside the car. Investigators do not yet know the age or sex of the person.

Police said the car ended up in the water either late Thursday or early Friday after going on the shoulder of the road and hitting the bank. Emergency crews arrived on the scene around 10 a.m.
