PENDLETON, Ind.—A nurse at a Pendleton prison was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly performed a sexual act on an inmate.

Colette Ficklin, 39, was preliminarily charged with sexual misconduct between a service provider and lawfully detained person, a Class C felony.

According to the probable cause affidavit, an officer reported walking in on Ficklin performing a sexual act on an inmate in the prison’s medical center in late April.

Detectives interviewed the inmate, who stated he was instructed by Ficklin to “fake chest pains” so they could have time alone, according to court documents. The inmate told authorities Ficklin often flirted with all the inmates.

Ficklin had worked at the facility for only one month when the alleged incident occurred. She turned herself into the Madison County Jail on Wednesday but released a short time later after posting a $10,000 bond.
