Homeowners are putting the future of their neighborhoods in their own hands.

A vision summit was held at the State Fairgrounds for about 20 neighborhoods that comprise the Northeast corridor. The group of neighbors talked about improving the area when it came to homes and schools, as well as ways to help cut down on crime.

“You bring these ideas together, you don’t know what’s going to come from it but it allows everybody to at least voice it. You can start to talk about safety issues, housing issues, education issues and try to focus on those to better it in your community,” says homeowner Marcus Saloane.

Following the meeting, homeowners and business leaders will work together to start mapping out a plan for the area’s future.
