Fortville police search for gunman, witness in overnight shooting

FORTVILLE, IND. — The Fortville police investigated an apparent shooting Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Staat Street, near Landmark Park, to find a man sitting in the middle of the road with an apparent gunshot wound to the arm.

The victim said he was walking down an alley when a dark colored pickup truck stopped in the roadway.

That’s when a passenger got out, yelled at the victim, pulled out a gun and shot him.

The truck sped off in an unknown direction after the shooting.

Dispatchers were alerted to the shooting by a 911 call from the nearby park.
