LAWRENCE – Officers investigating one shooting ended up involved in another, overnight.

A man on Patton Drive says someone shot at him, so he called police. As officers were there investigating, the victim pointed out the person he says shot at him, driving by. Police  attempted to stop the suspect and that’s when he took off. That was around 1 a.m.

Officers chased the man up and down 46th Street, to 47th, hitting Franklin, German Church and Pendleton Pike, all the while dodging bullets as the suspect continued to fire at police.

Lawrence Deputy Chief Greg Swingle says the chase finally ended around 1:30 a.m., at 56th and Poindexter Drive. The man got out of the car and continued firing at officers. That’s when LPD shot back, hitting the man in the leg and abdomen.

The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old William Tisdale. He was taken to the hospital and was last listed in stable condition.

No officers were shot or injured.
