The 4th of July holiday is getting closer by the day but rain just seems to be parked over head for many of us!  Here’s the good news, the chance for rain on the 4th of July is actually very low at this point.  But the same cannot be said for the 1st half of the coming week.

Skies remain mostly cloudy overnight and we’ll possibly see some isolated showers in the overnight hours.  But this upper level low will still be just off to our east again on Monday, keeping in the chance for showers and thunderstorms.  We start the morning with the chance for some spotty showers but the better window for activity will once again be Monday afternoon.  This is when rainfall coverage across the state will be the best and when we’ll have the best chance for thunderstorms.  Good news, severe weather is not expected in the coming days.

Rainfall chances continue on Monday, especially in the afternoon

The continued cloud cover on Monday will keep temperatures below normal again with highs only in the mid to low 70s.  We should normally start the month of July with temperatures in the mid 80s, so this is definitely below normal.  Compared to last year, it’s a huge difference!  We had a high of 95° on July 1, 2012.  That type of heat is not in place this year and won’t be for the 4th of July either.

The chance for showers and thunderstorms will be in again for Tuesday, with the best chance after 12 PM and up through the evening.  Moisture also keeps popping up in the weather models on Wednesday, but these would only be isolated showers and storms, resulting in very little rainfall.  Wednesday will see more dry hours than rainy hours.

Then comes the 4th of July and the forecast isn’t looking too bad.  We’ll see a high around 83°F with partly cloudy skies.  There is currently a 20% chance of rain for the holiday, but that could easily change in the coming weather model runs, so we’ll continue to keep an eye on it!
