A police chase involving a stolen car ended in a crash early Friday morning.

An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer saw the driver of a green vehicle fail to stop for a traffic light at Cold Springs and Michigan Road around 3 a.m. The officer tried to conduct a traffic stop by turning on his lights, but the vehicle continued south onto Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street.

The driver, later identified as Dawan White, led police on a chase that lasted several minutes and reached speeds up to 100 miles an hour, police said. He finally crashed on the ramp from Interstate 70 westbound to Holt Road.

White and his 13-year-old passenger were taken to Wishard Hospital in critical condition.

As a result of the crash, the ramp from I-70 to Holt Road was closed for a short time.

Police later confirmed the car was stolen.
