Police identify teen fatally shot after fireworks show

Indianapolis Metropolitan police have identified the teenager who was shot and killed after Thursday’s fireworks show.

Police said the victim was Monquize Edwards, 16, Indianapolis.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday, police were called to Maryland and Meridian Streets for a person shot.

Police found Edwards suffering from a gunshot wound in the stomach. He was taken to Wishard in critical condition, where he later died.

After the shooting, police restricted traffic to the area while they investigated. The case remains under investigation.
