Heritage Christian School is ending its charter sponsorship with a local Boy Scouts of America troop.

The decision comes after a controversial vote back in May. The organization voted to allow openly gay scouts.

Heritage Christian’s announcement came one day after East 91st Street Christian Church said it is cutting ties with the boy scouts.

The school released a statement Thursday, saying, “We desire to continue our positive relationship with the troop as they seek to affiliate with a Christ-centered scouting ministry that aligns with our school`s mission.”
