Peace Bowl helps to build community bonds

Local police officers were out having fun with kids and teens on Saturday as part of the fifth annual Peace Bowl at Washington Park.

The Peace Bowl is a special basketball tournament involving kids, local officers and even Mayor Ballard was on hand for the fun.

“We need to make sure we have a relationship within the community talking to each other it’s important for the police and the kids to have a good strong relationship,” Ballard said. “I think that helps overall in the city.”

There were about 20 different teams of youngsters that took part in this year’s basketball tournament.
