More people are going to the State Fair this year than in previous years. Fair officials announced Monday that attendance is up 7 percent compared to a year ago.

In fact, the fair saw record turnouts on the first Sunday and Tuesday.

Below-average temperatures are also helping to boost those numbers along with all those elephant ears and deep fried “everything”.

“I love it. I come to eat every year. We eat our way all the way around,” said Linda Wehrle, fairgoer.

As of Sunday, 575,000 people have visited the fair.
