CRAWFORD COUNTY, IND. – A woman died when the car she was riding hit a tree. Officials at  the Marengo Town Marshall’s Office say a marshall attempted to stop a 1991 GMC pickup truck for having defective taillights. The driver, Robert Michael Banet from Leavenworth, refused to stop. The officer followed him for about a mile. Banet’s truck lost control and crashed into a tree. He was airlifted to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officials tell us his passenger, Jeannine Marie Farrell  of Mauckport, died at the scene.  The Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office will determine what charges to file.
