Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies were led on a short chase around 2 a.m. Sunday.

While patrolling Middle Road in Columbus, Trooper Matt Simmons saw a pickup truck going north on Middle Road with very bright white lights to the rear of his vehicle.

Trooper Simmons attempted to pull the truck over but the driver refused to stop, running a stop sign at 25th Street.

The driver, later identified at 44-year-old Todd Harmon of Columbus, continued south on to U.S. 31 reaching 80 miles an hour before turning into the McDonald’s parking lot on National Road.

Once the truck stopped, the driver got out and started walking quickly towards the trooper’s car.

A short time later Columbus Police Officer Jim Paris arrived on scene and eventually deployed his taser on Mr. Harmons and he was then arrested.
