Shelby County Sheriff Deputies are investigating a crash that claimed the lives of two people and sent two others to the hospital.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s office says a Ford Thunderbird headed east entered the intersection of State Road 252 and State Road 9 after failing to stop for a stop sign.
The Thunderbird was hit by a Cadillac that was traveling southbound.
The driver of the Cadillac told police that they could not avoid hitting the car.
The driver and passenger of the Thunderbird, a twenty-eight year old male and a thirty-five-year-old woman both from Columbus were pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the Cadillac, a thirty-two-year-old woman from Shelbyville had injuries to her lower leg and was transported to Methodist Hospital.
A three-year-old boy from Edinburgh, also in the Cadillac, was also taken to Methodist hospital from injuries from the seat belt.
No names have been released at this point.
