Indiana Senator Jim Merritt is teaming up with Big Red Liquors to remind minors about the Lifeline Law.

The law prevents minors under the influence of alcohol from being prosecuted for posession or consumption if they call for help and stay with a friend who needs medical attention.

Sen. Merritt authored the law and is teaming up with Big Red Liquors to further promote it following the death of Rachael Fiege.

Last week, the 19-year-old fell down the stairs at a part near IU’s Bloomington campus. Friends didn’t call for help until later in the morning because they didn’t understand the severity of her injuries.

Big Red Liquors says it will now display posters and place flyers about the law in all of its Bloomington locations.
