UPDATE: Muncie Police Involved in Police-Action Shooting

Muncie, IN – Muncie police confirm officers were involved in a police-action shooting early Sunday morning.

According to detectives, the incident happened around 2AM at Kruzer’s Bar in the 3400 block of South Walnut Street.

Officers were called to the bar because of a fight. As they arrived, one of the people involved in the fight fled in his car.

An officer initiated a traffic stop, the suspect exited the car and started to assault the officer, hitting him in the head and face.

A second officer arrived and the suspect started to hit him as well. The suspect then pinned the second officer against a fence and started strangling him. That officer pulled a gun and shot the suspect.

The suspect has been identified as Bryan Modglin. He was taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition.

Both officers were also taken to the hospital to receive treatment of their injuries.

Modglin has been charged with two counts of  battery and strangling one of the officers.
