It’s the end of the line for the iconic Volkswagen van. Production will end on Dec. 31.

Brazil is the last place in the world still manufacturing the vehicle.

Volkswagen says it can’t change its production lines to meet new safety standards.

Here in the U.S., the Volkswagen van was used to haul surfboards, hippies and even Scooby Doo around.

In Brazil, it was used as mail trucks, army vehicles and even school buses.

The Volkswagen van was first introduced in Germany 63 years ago.
