The Indianapolis Zoo needs volunteers for its state-of-the-art orangutan exhibit, which is set to open next year.

The International Orangutan Center is expected to be a world-class facility when it opens next May, but the zoo needs people to help staff it. So far, zoo officials say they’ve had a great response, but they need more help.

Volunteers must have a love for animals and a love for people. And you don’t have to know everything about orangutans—the zoo will provide orientation and training about the exhibit. The attraction is expected to draw big crowds when it opens.

Prospective volunteers have until Sept. 28 to apply. You can submit an application by going to the Indianapolis Zoo’s website. Then, you need to attend a volunteer program introduction program on Saturday at 1 p.m. The zoo will then contact people to schedule interviews.
