INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis issued an alert Tuesday after a student reported an unidentified man approached her in an attempted robbery Monday night.

The incident occurred outside the Informatics and Communications Complex at 535 W. Michigan St. around 9 p.m. The student reported she was speaking with her friend, when the suspect approached her to ask if she was leaving the building. The student said she replied that she was not.

After leaving the building a short while later, the student told police she spotted the same man standing about 20 feet from the building. She reported the man ran at her and hit her with his shoulder and attempted to grab her phone.

The student said she was able to run away and hide behind a bush. She stated she watched the suspect run to a dark colored Honda that was being driven by another unidentified black male. The woman reported the vehicle circled the parking lot several times and at one point, the suspect exited and appeared to be looking for her.
