IMPD officers hosted the second Coffee with a Cop Wednesday. The McDonalds at 3649 S. Keystone Ave. served as an informal meeting place for officers to talk with residents.

People who attended said they appreciated officers taking the time out of their day to meet with the community. The Southeast District is trying this approach as a way to strengthen police relations with people in the area.

Officers took in 33 complaints in just a few hours. They will follow up on all complaints and launch any necessary investigations.

“Anything from as simple as vandalism, problems with juveniles in certain areas and then it’s gone all the way up to information on robberies as well as identity thefts,” said Officer Andrew Sheler.

McDonalds also put out donation jars for the family of fallen Officer Rod Bradway. They collected $480 during the event. Many people also offered their condolences to the Bradway family and his fellow officers.

“Just saddened to see a man lose his life like that to protect us,” said resident Ralph Davis.
